Functionalities and tools for sensor interfaces
Maximum flexibility for sensor connections
The HMG 4000 portable data recorder and data logger can record both analogue and digital signals from up to 38 sensors simultaneously. HYDAC sensors with automatic sensor detection as well as all commercially available sensors with standardised analogue output signals can be connected to the analogue inputs. Proprietary HYDAC sensors are automatically detected and set in terms of the measured variable, measuring range and unit. These sensors, which are known as HSI sensors (HYDAC sensor interface), can be connected to 8 analogue input channels.
Up to 28 special HYDAC HCSI-Sensors (HYDAC CAN Sensor Interface) can be additionally connected via the CAN bus port, also with automatic sensor detection. The HMG 4000 rounds off the application solution by providing two additional digital inputs (e.g. for frequency or rpm measurements). A total of up to 100 measurement channels can be displayed simultaneously.
The all-in-one tool for IO-Link applications
A separate programming port allows both standard IO-Link devices and all adjustable / programmable HYDAC sensors to be read out, parameterised and duplicated. Even without knowledge of an IODD, the HMG 4000 detects a connected IO-Link device after starting the "IO-Link tools" in the main menu and allows access to all generic IO-Link data from the connected device. Similar to a USB IO-Link master, the HMG 4000 reaches its full potential when the IODD of the connected IO-Link device is available.
The representation on the HMG display and access to the sensor data take place in a similar way to a standardised port and device configuration tool (PDCT) in accordance with the IO-Link specification. Both can be read and written intuitively without knowledge of individual ISDU indices and subindices. For documentation and archiving purposes, the relevant device operating data can be saved in html format on the HMG 4000 and also transferred to a PC via USB.
In the same way, the device settings and parameters made by the user or read by the sensor can be stored on the HMG 4000, transferred to a PC for documentation and used for convenient duplication on other devices with the same device ID. This makes the HMG 4000 the perfect all-in-one tool for all work on an IO-Link system, both for the initial commissioning and for servicing or maintenance.
CAN measurements and CAN diagnostics
Thanks to the complete integration of the CAN automation interface, the HYDAC HMG 4000 offers the unique possibility of displaying and recording analogue signals, digital statuses and CAN signals as joint measurements. There are simple configuration screens for CANopen and SAE J1939. Any proprietary CAN signal can also be recorded, decoded and analysed as a measurement, however. Signals from complex CAN networks can be easily imported into the HYDAC HMG 4000 using symbol lists.
What makes the HYDAC portable data recorder a universal tool in this use case is the extensive CAN configuration functions and CAN diagnostics functions provided by the "CAN Tool" application. With this tool from the HMG 4000 toolbox, you're not just able to record CAN messages, including error messages, and interpret them according to the protocol. The tool also offers the option of easily configuring all HYDAC CAN sensors, as well as many CANopen sensors from other manufacturers. The CANopen object representation and configuration is controlled via CANopen EDS files. There is an easy-to-use wizard especially for the important parameters: the node ID/device address and the bit rate.
Every CAN administrator will be impressed with the powerful wizard for configuring CANopen PDO messages and functionally safe SRDO messages, the latter including signature calculation. The ability to also send CAN messages rounds off this tool perfectly. This makes the HYDAC HMG 4000 your toolbox for signal recording, CAN configuration and CAN diagnostics.
